Sof Voet

Editor-in-Chief

Sof Voet (they/them) is a queer, trans writer and self-proclaimed cheese curd and custard expert born and raised in northeastern Wisconsin. They hold a B.A. in English (Creative Writing) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing-Nonfiction from Miami University where they served on the editorial board for their graduate literary magazine, OxMag Literary Magazine. They are interested in the speculative and much of their writing focuses on their Upper Midwestern identity, Indigenous identity, queerness, transness, and displacement. Outside of academics, they can be found trying to befriend the local dogs. They also enjoy traveling and being outdoors, playing games, and plants. They currently live in Albany, New York with their partner and their Samoyed puppy, Tofu, while they pursue their Ph.D. in English (Writing Practices).

 

 

Shaw Patton

Managing Editor

Shaw is a Ph.D. student at SUNY Albany and holds an M.F.A. in creative writing from Florida State University. While at FSU, he was the associate fiction editor of the Southeast Review and also co-owned a vegan restaurant and venue space. His creative writing has been published in HAD, Honey Literary, Cimarron Review, $ (Poetry is Currency), Eunoia Review, Oroboro (Death Rattle), Beaver Magazine, and elsewhere. Nikko Capati

Prose Editor

Nikko is a Ph.D. student interested in postmodern science fiction, graphic novels, and digital theory.  He was born in the Philippines, but later immigrated to the island of Guam. He completed his B.A. and M.A. in English from the University of Guam. As a child of the Equator, he likes to go to the beach. To survive the New York cold, he has been hoarding as many tea bags as legally possible.


 

Will Pattee

Poetry Editor

Will is pursuing his Ph.D. in English at the University at Albany. His academic concentration focuses on modern poetry, ecocriticism, ecopoetics, and mythopoetics. Apart from his studies, Will also writes his own poetry. He enjoys spending time in nature, playing with his dogs, and a good round of cards with friends.

Megan Wilson

Megan Wilson is a Ph.D. student in the English department at SUNY Albany. She holds an M.F.A. in creative writing from UMass Amherst and a B.A. in English from the University of Rochester. Her main aspirations are to read a lot and eat pizza.

 

 

Sophia Schulz

Social Media Manager/ Associate Editor

Sophia is currently pursuing her M.A. in English at SUNY Albany. Her focus is on creative writing, and she is currently working on a novel. She enjoys writing fiction and was published in the Fall 2021 issue of the ARCH.

 

 

Gunok Kim

Associate Editor

Gunok Kim is a Ph.D. student at SUNY Albany in the English Department. She spent most of her life in Korea before she came to the United States. She received an M.A. in English Literature at Texas A&M University. Currently, as a researcher, Gunok explores late nineteenth and twentieth-century literature, media, and film studies, particularly modernism and its historical, sociological, and philosophical contexts in Great Britain, and the relationship between literature and visual culture.

 

 

Atrayee guha

Prose Editor

Atrayee, currently pursuing a Ph.D. in English at the University at Albany, is at her happiest when she is slow-cooking mutton stew, propagating plants, or travelling to a place she has never been before. As a researcher, she is interested in feminisms and postcolonial studies. She was born and raised in Kolkata, India, and holds a B.A. in English from the University of Calcutta, and M.A. in Comparative Literature from Jadavpur University. Before joining UAlbany, she worked as an advertising copywriter in Wunderman Thompson, and as a financial research analyst in Indian Credit Rating Association. She also dabbled in editing for a literary magazine, and in web journalism after immigrating to the United States.

 

Maggie Zehr

Associate Editor

Maggie is currently pursuing a dual master's degree in English and Information Science. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the College of Saint Rose and a Bachelor of Arts in English from SUNY Albany. After working in the control room of a news station for the past six years, she decided to return to school while sharpening her skills in journalism and photography. Aside from school and work, Maggie keeps herself busy with cooking, music, and learning new languages.

Bri Thompson

Associate Editor

Bri Thompson is pursuing her M.A. in English at SUNY Albany. Having recently graduated from Binghamton University with a B.A. in English Literature & Creative Writing, she is looking to expand her creative and literary horizons by involving herself in both the modern prose community and in the writings of the past to reveal the commonalities rooting all of us together through time. When she's not reading the day away or feverishly hacking her keyboard to bits, Bri enjoys going on long walks, staring at the stars, and being a single mother to all of her plant children.

 

 

Kris Ferber

Associate Editor

Kris Ferber is a English/ Information Science Major at University of Albany. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in business administration in 2012 at the College of St. Rose. Previously Kris was a self-employed poker player that traveled the country and developed a passion for writing during the 2020 pandemic. He is currently working on his first novel. 

 

 

Devin Jinadasa

Associate Editor

Devin Jinadasa holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from SUNY Albany. Mythology, music, history, hiking, photography, and wildlife (particularly wolves) count among his many passions, but it is stories, whether told orally, on the page, or played out across the stage, that have always been the closest to his heart. Devin’s passion for writing has led to his stories and poetry being published in multiple newspapers whilst growing up in his home country of Sri Lanka. He published work in Barzakh’s sister magazine ARCH in 2020 and 2021 respectively, prior to becoming ARCH’s Outreach Intern during his last semester at SUNY Albany in 2022. He wrote his first novel, Silver Moon: The War Begins, at the age of fourteen, and it was published two years later by the British publishing company Austin Macauley Ltd. Currently, Devin is working on completing his second novel, A Raven’s Tale. Follow him @a_wolf_named_bard.
